Earlier this week, I was driving to work blasting the new Future project in my car. I typically hype myself up for the day with loud music and in-car karaoke lol. Some days it’s gospel, some days it’s afro-beat, that … Continue reading Code-switching in the professional world
Is it me or was January an extremely long month? It feels like we’re already halfway through 2019. Then again, my mind is so focused on my graduation and becoming a doctor that I’m practically already in May. At any rate, a new month is always a good time to revisit our year-long goals, and also make more specific ones for the month itself. If you feel like you carried some things into the new year that you should have left in 2018, now is a good time to reset and refocus. And you’re definitely not alone. To be completely … Continue reading It’s OK to hit reset on 2019
To start off for those who don’t know, ambulatory medicine = outpatient medicine. This rotation at my school is 4 weeks and it’s with the Internal Medicine department. Some of my classmates that are at regional campuses are working with one doctor doing only one aspect of Internal med–nephrology for example. I’m doing the rotation at the main hospital at my institution along with 10-15 other med students, so our experience is a little more mixed. On the first day we all got schedules that detailed our clinic assignments for each day of the week. Every morning and afternoon, I’m … Continue reading Update: Ambulatory Medicine Rotation
It’s officially the end of my vacation block and time for me to start doing real work again. I have 2 more rotations to complete before the end of my duties as a medical student! Tomorrow begins my Ambulatory Medicine clerkship, which will be made of smaller rotations through various Internal Medicine clinics such as Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, etc. I’ve definitely enjoyed my time off, but I’m ready to get back into the workflow again because the sooner I start, the sooner I finish, and your girl is ready to be DONE! I guess I’m also looking forward to the … Continue reading Last Stretch!

Happy New year! I hope that your 2019 is off to a great start. I’m back safely in the US after spending 3 amazing weeks in Nigeria. I’m lucky to still be on vacation mode because my next rotation doesn’t … Continue reading 2019: The year I’ve been waiting for!
So, this will probably be the last you hear of me for 2018 because I’m traveling to Nigeria in 2 days and will be there for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, this is also going to be a short … Continue reading Going, going, gone!
I’ve been so all over the place these past few weeks and haven’t been able to sit and update my blog. As of late, when I get free time, I’m wrapped up in Michelle Obama’s new book, Becoming (amazing!). At this … Continue reading Interview season continues
Here are some highlights of my past week with family and my quick trip to Austin, TX for the AAMC national conference. I was also able to get another interview under my belt this week which I really enjoyed. … Continue reading Wrapping up EM & thoughts on interview season so far
The past 2 weeks I’ve been on my Emergency Medicine (EM) rotation, which is a 4th year rotation at my med school. I’m working at what I think would be considered a rural hospital, but it’s a level 2 trauma … Continue reading The best of my Emergency Medicine rotation
