Show me your friends

January 14, 2019January 14, 2019 TheBalancingAct2 Comments

"Show me your friends and I'll show you who you are" "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with." "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." "Your network equals your net worth." It's no secret that your inner circle is extremely important, and impacts you in every [...]

STEP2 Studying: week 2 + mini vacay

August 5, 2018August 5, 2018 TheBalancingActLeave a comment

This past week was a strong productive week I must say! My focus and critical thinking has improved. I've been doing better on my UWorld question sets as I've been learning/reviewing more. Every once in a while I'll still choose an answer that 0% of people chose, which humbles me real quick. But I can [...]

Wannabe Instafamous..

It’s funny how we used to clown people for being smart. Growing up I was actually insecure about how smart I was, which is actually scary to think. I was thankfully surrounded by people who cultivated my strengths & actually challenged me to achieve my goals. S/o to the people who never dimmed my light, but gave me the room to shine AND hyped me up while I did! ✨ . . . #shineyourlight #futureMD #familymedicine #scholarship #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #medicinelife #medschoolblog #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #blackdoctors #youaremagic #youarepowerful #manifest #selfgrowth
When you’ve completed your final exam of medical school & coasting season truly begins! #donedone 📸 @thegoldenimpression . . . #fourthyear #coasting #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #medicinelife #medschoolblog #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #blackdoctors #reseaudocteur #snma
Preparing myself for all the “you’re too young to be my doctor” comments that I’ll be getting as I start my career as a physician. I’ll brush it off though, because it’s such an honor to be young, black, and gifted. ✨ . . . #youngblackandgifted #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #medicinelife #medschoolblog #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #blackdoctors #reseaudocteur #projectdiversifymedicine #youngladywatching
Brunch is more than just a meal, it’s a whole event! Who else agrees?? . . . #brunch #brunchbabes #atlbrunch #africanstyle #prints #africanfashion #negrilvillageatl
Self love is the way to live well in a world that tries to kill us with comparison. You are strong. You are smart. You are beautiful. You are handsome. You have what it takes. You deserve it. Fall in love with yourself, you are worthy. 💛 . . . #selflove #selfcare #positiveaffirmations #positivevibes #feelgood #loveyou
Contrary to the appearance of my Instagram feed, I’m still a working medical student! Currently on Ambulatory Medicine working in various clinics 8-5. Granted, I probably only see max 3 patients in a half day, so I’m not working too hard 😅 . . . #fourthyear #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #medicinelife #medschoolblog #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #blackdoctors #roadtoresidency #medschooljourney
We all have our own paths to follow in this life. I met Brea in undergrad at a pre-med program that was setting us up for our careers in medicine. She later decided that patient care wasn’t her thing and now she’s halfway done with a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology and one day is going to run her own lab! The world needs scientists just as much as it needs clinicians and I think it’s important to always stay open to other career options. At the end of the day, we’re both going to be doctors anyway 😉 . . . #womeninscience #blackgirlmagic #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #naturalhairstyles #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #minoritiesinstem #blackdoctors
Always great when the road to residency leads you to new friendships. I think it’s safe to say all the best people go into family medicine 🤷🏽‍♀️ #isaidwhatisaid . . . #roadtothematch #roadtoresidency #medschool #bgm #futuredoctors #familymedicine #sunshine #glowingskin
Had the pleasure of meeting @mrsmommymd this weekend! She’s an amazing OBGYN, mom, wife, and such a kind spirit on top of it all. She inspires me to keep using my social media presence to inspire those coming behind me. Follow her for some #blackgirlmagic & inspo for work-life balance! . . . #yourfuturedoctor #womeninmedicine #medicinelife #medschoolblog #blackgirlbloggers #medschoollife #minoritiesinmedicine #blackdoctors #projectdiversifymedicine #blackdoctorsmatter #snma #doctortribe #obgyn #familymedicine
